- Experience Required: 5-7 Years of experience within a Platform Engineering Managerial position.
- Working Hours: Full-Time
- Location: Remote in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, or the European Union, or a hybrid option in our Berlin or Paris office
- Reports to: Director of Engineering

YOUR CHALLENGE AT WIRE
You will lead the evolution of the Platform organization to better support the company’s global objectives across SaaS, developer productivity, and on-prem delivery. Today, the team ensures SaaS operability and supports internal engineering needs, but lacks the structure and scalability required for the next phase.
Your role will be to expand, organize, and mature the platform function into a clear, efficient, and strategic capability.
You will define and drive a platform strategy across three core domains:

Operational Excellence
DevOps – DevX & Release Enablement
Your role will be to expand, organize, and mature the platform function into a clear, efficient, and strategic capability.
You will define and drive a platform strategy across three core domains:
- SaaS Platform: reliability, scalability, and operational excellence of production environments
- Developer Experience (DevX): self-service infrastructure, high-performance CI/CD, and developer tooling
- Release & Validation Platform: infrastructure to support exhaustive compatibility testing for on-prem releases, including ephemeral environment capabilities
Platform Engineering manager Operational responsibilities
- Accountable for Service availability & uptime. Meeting the needs of our service level agreements with customers.
- Experience in working in a fast paced scaling environment ensuring reliability & ensuring teams are operationally prepared for Incident management, service & operational excellence.
- You will hold a leading role in defining, planning & executing against large scale Initiatives such as consolidation & Migration projects. In parallel to ensuring we maintain operational excellence.
- Ensure the platform & Operations Operating model scales with the demands for our technical & product roadmaps.
- Essential experience in design, operation, and continuous improvement of a large-scale Kubernetes environment.
- Proven experience in ensuring platform reliability, scalability, security, and developer productivity.
- Improving & enabling developer experience should be at the core of your strategic initiatives.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented SRE and DevOps engineers
- Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations
- Define and lay the foundation for Wire’s internal Developer Platform.
- Manage teams demand & capacity needs
- Work closely with Wire’s Technical & Disciplines to shape and redefine our cloud platform, providing the foundation for a successful SaaS offering.
- Define & contribute towards Wire’s Platform vision & technical strategy in parallel to supporting the delivery & requirements for our product roadmap
Operational Excellence
- Ensure reliability, availability, and performance of platform services
- Continuously improve monitoring, alerting, and incident response strategies
- Evolve system architecture and infrastructure to support increasing scale and complexity
- Collaborate across teams to enable scalable, reliable, and observable systems across both cloud and on-prem environments
- Drive initiatives to optimize cloud spending
DevOps – DevX & Release Enablement
- Enhance developer experience by streamlining workflows, tools, and processes
- Enable teams to manage their CI/CD platforms through clear tooling, principles, and best practices
- Define and drive requirements and roadmap items to support product team delivery
- Enable the on-prem release distribution channel by supporting exhaustive compatibility testing on a wide range of ephemeral environments
- Provide technical guidance and support to developers to improve productivity
- Advocate for best practices in coding, testing, and deployment
YOUR PROFILE
Essential Experience
- Kubernetes (design, operation, and scaling in production)
- Hyperscalers: AWS (mandatory)
- Engineering Management experience in platform/SRE/DevOps environments
- Experience with other European cloud providers
- Hybrid / multi-cloud operations
- Experience with on-prem enterprise backend systems
- GitOps and IaC: Terraform, ArgoCD
- Databases: Cassandra, PostgreSQL, Pulsar, Redis
